About The Circle
The Circle is a VR espace game where the player has to complete all the riddle to find his way outside the room.
Particularities: a mix between the 80s and futuristic technologies. Immerse yourself in the comprehension of how all these old equipment can aliment power to the mysterious teleportation portal in the middle of the room.
Breakdown
- Production Period: over 2 weeks + a few extra hours dedicated to bug fixing and fine-tuning details to enhance the overall polish
- Level Design: The core concept revolves around a central key locked by four inactive lights. Each light is tied to a unique riddle that must be solved to progress.
- Position: Game Designer, Level Designer, Narrative Designer
- VR System Integration: implementation of VR-specific systems to ensure smooth movement and natural interactions, creating an enjoyable and intuitive experience for the player.
- Escape game design: Built a small yet dynamic environment that challenges the player's logic and observational skills through carefully designed puzzles.
- Scientific riddles: The game is set within a scientific lab-inspired environment, incorporating mechanisms and interactions that deviate from everyday routines, enhancing the sense of immersion and curiosity.
Development Summary
The Circle is a second-year project developed in Unity and built around a single, compact environment. The player must explore the space, solve riddles, find useful items, and ultimately escape the room.
It was our first VR game, which meant we had to quickly learn the fundamentals of VR development—understanding the technology, adapting our design approach, and creating custom systems to ensure a smooth, engaging experience for the player.
This was also our second team-based project, featuring full collaboration between game designers, programmers, and artists, all working with a technology that was new to everyone. Clear communication and understanding each discipline's needs were essential to delivering the game within a 2-week development window.
After the initial production, a small group made post-jam adjustments to fix minor issues and enhance the overall game feel.
